Participants of the tour "Final Journey of T.H.Shevchenko" dedicated to the 150th anniversary of reburial of the Great Kobzar visited the memorial places in Saint Petersburg, where the poet had lived and worked for 17 years.

Delegation of the parliament members and Ukrainian diaspora visited Smolenskoye cemetery, where the trio of bandura-players "Chervona Kalyna" ("Red Cranberry") performed the composition "Dumy moi, dumy moi" ("My Thoughts") by T.H.Shevchenko near the Memorial Stone on the place of the first burial place of T.H.Shevchenko.

 

The delegation also visited the house at 26 Mokhova Street, the first place of residence of T.H.Shevchenko in Saint-Petersburg.  

 

As reported, the tour "Final Journey of T.H.Shevchenko" dedicated to the 150th anniversary of reburial of the Great Kobzar is held in Ukraine and the Russian Federation on May 14-23. The events are organized under the patronage of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of CIS member states.

 

The delegation of parliament members of Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan will follow the itinerary of the funeral procession with the body of the Great Kobzar in the year 1861.
